I too was taking Ritalin. I started developing ticks and that is why my parents took me off of it. Then they decided to put me on the Finegold Diet. Have you heard of it? It was a diet that had found that some ADHD children are sensitive to food dyes. Specifically red 40 and yellow 5. Looking back on my childhood I don't feel the diet really helped me. But as you stated, I'm sure my Mom and Dad remember differently. But why I am commenting is that my oldest son who is 13 is ADHD. I have found that even though he has been medicated since the age of 6, he does still retain that sense of curiosity. I am sorry that yours got lost behind the meds. It was a good read.
